Nuances

As cliche as the expression "You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone" is, I have learned it is quite true. It is extremely true with subtle things that you otherwise would not have noticed or appreciated until you realized that you no longer had them. I noticed quite a few of these nuances when I arrived in Germany, and still when I returned to the US.

- There is WiFi almost everywhere you go in the US, and it's generally pretty fast. This is not the case in Germany.
- Public bathrooms in the US are free, in Germany the most I had to pay for a toilet (they call it toilet opposed to bath/restroom over there) was 1 Euro. However, the toilets are much cleaner over there.
- There are no water fountains in Germany, or they're not as abundant as they are in the US. Also, water is carbonated and served warm. I like ice and still water.

- KABOBS! They are not shish kabobs. They are better, much better. It's similar to a pita bread with lamb, cabbage, veggies, a dill sauce, and another creamy sauce. They are absolutely delectable.
My first Kabob in Berlin!

- Diet Coke is called Coca-Cola Light, and does not taste the same. Just ask Caroline Coe.
- This might be an obvious one, but people we drinking beer at all hours of the day/ night. People would also just be walking around the streets drinking (more so in Berlin than Munich) without having to worry about an open container charge.
